  Activity/Product Description

The activities under the Gender Theme encompass the range of investments needed to ensure that FISH delivers on it gender-related commitments in FISH. These are: - gender integration in FISH flagship research (both flagships, all clusters) - select strategic gender research (such as on gender norms or women’s empowerment in aquaculture and SSF) - development of innovative approaches (in particular, gender transformative strategies) and tools (for assessing changes in gender attitudes and women’s empowerment, eg the WEFI) - strategic direction setting, planning, capacity development, partnerships and communication as well as M&E needed for effective implementation and scaling These contribute instrumentally to the FISH theory of change in each cluster (e.g., in order to be effective, scalable and have impact, FISH innovations in aquaculture and SSF need to be based on understanding of and be responsive to women’s and men’s needs as well as address inherent gender barriers in FISH contexts). Moreover, these contribute directly to FISH’s contributions to gender equality and inclusion (and thus SDG 5).
