| Innovation description | An approach to engaging with gender within development that goes beyond ‘business-as-usual’ gender approaches in that it explicitly addresses, rather than accommodates, underlying gender barriers that perpetuate inequalities. Emerging findings indicate that the transformative approaches may contribute to more potent gender outcomes. GTA approach increased women’s participation in fishing (from 5% to 75%) and increased women’s contributions to intra-household decisions about the income generated from processing fish (49%). |
