  Activity/Product Description

The purpose of this research cluster is to integrate fish feed, fish health, fish husbandry and systems research innovations into easily usable knowledge products to support farming of genetically improved tilapia and carps in WorldFish focal and scaling countries. Work in this research cluster will convene key scientists and partners to achieve one program (FISH) approach and facilitate the development of BMP products/resources for use at the global and country levels. Through this approach, the cluster hopes to packaging and widespread dissemination of knowledge through training programs, networks and partners about improved tilapia health and feed management practices and accompanying assessments to identify major improvements for current interventions for enhancing sustainable intensification. This cluster will attempt to compile the current/baseline information on tilapia farming practices and use a one program approach to produce (a) at the global level: tilapia BMP guidelines #V1 and (b) at the country level: locally adapted contextualized stakeholder-specific BMP products (e.g. ToT manuals, posters, fact sheets).
