  Activity/Product Description

This activity uses Social Network Analysis (SNA) metrics and modeling on a combined data set of CGIAR MEL on CGIAR programs and projects (CRP-GLDC and CRP-RTB) and academic publication databases to provide insights on publication networks and successful collaborations leading to long-term partnerships. In more detail, the study will investigate the implications of the shift between two different approaches, the commodity-based approach and the systems-based approaches, to the peer-reviewed publication networks. The objectives of the study are summarized in two points: 1. Provide evidence on the effect of different Research for Development (R4D) approaches in enhancing scientific knowledge generation and dissemination, and 2. Informe the ongoing One CGIAR process in selecting the project design approach for different objectives and in other contexts. This could provide inputs for deciding in which countries or regions which approach can be more suitable for enhancing scientific knowledge generation and dissemination.
