  Activity/Product Description

By combining remote sensing, crop modelling, landscape ecology and socio-economical surveys, our main objective is to spatially characterize agroecological practices (mixed cropping and agroforestry) and to assess its impacts on food security and livelihoods. Thus, specific objectives are to (1) characterize the agricultural landscape structuration and the cropping system pattern, with a focus on the configuration of parklands, (2) improve crop yield estimates of main drylands cereals (e.g. millet) at a regional levels and identify areas of potential intensification, (3) assess the impacts of agricultural landscape diversity (composition and spatial pattern) on crop yields and food security of local population.
