Innovation ID600
Version ID464
Innovation TitleLow-Cost portable fish dryer to produce food safe dried fish and promote the use of dried powdered small indigenous fish species (SIS) for improved nutrition in Myanmar
Innovation description The initial idea for the portable fish drier was inspired by a Thai design, which WorldFish, through the MYSAP Inland project, modified and tested as 2 prototype versions, before having 60 fish driers manufactured in Shwebo Township that were distributed to 20 households in each of three townships for community testing

Stage of InnovationStage 1: discovery/proof of concept
Year (Stage)2020
Stage DescriptionTesting of a low cost portable fish drier by 60 collaborating households in Myanmar. The feedback from the households will be used to further improve the current drier design and to understand what encourages and hinders the usage of the pilot drier and this improved, but simple, applied technology.
