Innovation TitleMethods for assessing poverty reduction due to adoption of improved varieties
Innovation description Adoption of improved agricultural technologies has long been recognized as critical for reducing poverty through increased productivity, incomes, and asset accumulation. Using a nationally representative survey data from a sample of >1500 households in Nigeria. The method involves a comparative evaluation of poverty headcount ratios based on the observed and counterfactual income distributions with and without technology adoption where the size of the income effects of adoption is first derived using endogenous switching regression techniques.
