Innovation TitleContextualized better management practices (BMPs) for genetically improved farmed tilapia (GIFT) in Timor-Leste
Innovation description Better Management Practices (BMPs) for genetically improved farmed tilapia (GIFT) in Timor-Leste were developed based on learning from farmers’ field schools (FFSs) and demonstration ponds, including empirical evidences from elsewhere. A BMPs manual was published, in both English and Tetum languages, in partnership with the Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAF) to provide guidelines for sustainable intensification of tilapia production systems in Timor-Leste and to serve as a handbook for aquaculture technicians/practitioners.
